Bless my daughter, Tyler. She thinks we run everywhere because it’s fun.
It is fun but that’s definitely not why we do it!
I’d love to be one of those mums who has everything under control, always remembers to pack everything for every possibility and always has food prepped way in advance to feed her crew while they saunter along and get to wherever they are going with 15mins to spare.
I am the opposite of that mum.
Bit late everywhere, always charging from one place to the next trying to fit in the bazillion things I have over-planned for the day, always forgetting something we desperately need and, unless I made us #BEXFAST pots to eat on the way or grabbed some fruit then I probably didn’t bring anything.
As a result we have become connoisseurs of the high street snack!
We wanted to share some of our quick fixes with you to show you that eating on the go doesn’t have to be unhealthy, boring or hard to get hold of so here is:
TYLER’S TOP 5 HIGH STREET SNACKS:
Hippeas Organic Chickpea Puffs
You have to try these!! They are so delicious and come in a few different flavours.
Sweet & Smokin are most definitely our fave!
They are a bit pricier than the average bag of crisps but these babies are high in fibre, low in calories, organic, gluten free, and a source of protein.
Where to get your hands on them: Holland & Barrett
We are big fans of Japanese food in this house so it was awesome when Ty really took to these cucumber, rice and nori little bite sized noms at a young age. Getting them without having to track down a Yo! is super easy now too as most supermarkets do their own. Not as great as the ones from an authentic place but they do the job!
Where to get your hands on them: Tesco, Sainsburys, Waitrose, Yo! Sushi, Wasabi, Morrisons… etc..
Bear Pure Fruit Yo Yos
These are one of Tyler’s favourite snacks (we love their cereal too!).
You can get them individually or in boxes and they come in a wide variety of flavours. They are made completely from fruit, they’re fun to eat as they are rolled up like yo yo string and they come with collectable cards inside that have facts and pictures on them and you never know if you will get the sparkley card or not!!
Where to get your hands on them: Pretty much any supermarket or health shop, even some sweet shops have started doing them
Price: 70p individually – £2.29ish for a box of 5
These bars are delicious, packed full of protein and a few of the flavours like this ‘Peanut Power’ one are cold pressed and made using nada but real ingredients which makes them the perfect snack for on the go!
They are also one of my go-to’s if I’m coming home from a workout or run and need some fuel.
Where to get your hands on them: All supermarkets and health shops
You can’t go wrong with a Nakd bar. They are sold everywhere, they are less than a quid and I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like at least one flavour!
No additives or crap, just fruit and nuts perfectly squished together.
Where to get your hands on them: Pretty much anywhere
We could probably carry this list on for ages so if you do need any other ideas just leave a comment below and we can get another list together soon.
We were also thinking of doing a list of our favourite kid and vegan friendly restaurants and places in London,
what do you think?
Would anyone find that helpful?
Let us know!
